  In-Service Programs

Each in-service program is designed to meet the curriculum and pedagogical interests of the teachers and to work within the financial and time constraints of the school or district.

All in-service institutes share certain qualities:

The presenters and coordinators are classroom teachers who have participated in more than 100 hours of instruction through UMKC and the Greater Kansas City Writing Project (affiliated with the National Writing Project). The topics and approach are based on current research, theory, and practice.

They stress writing in a variety of classroom settings.

They are activity oriented and participatory.

They include handouts, bibliographies and suggestions for classroom application.
