Residential Life

H1N1

H1N1, Swine Flu, is projected to continue to be present in the U.S. and other countries during the 2009-2010 flu season (October - April). This virus spreads from person-to-person where symptoms include fever (100.4 or above), cough, sore throat, lack of appetite, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. To this date, most of the H1N1 illnesses have been relatively minor and may be managed safely at home.

UMKC Residential Life is committed to helping our students remain healthy during this flu season. Hand sanitizer is available throughout all of our facilities - please use it liberally! We also have cleaning buckets available at our front desks. Although we encourage residents to purchase their own cleaning supplies, we are happy to check these out in situations where one or more of the residents in a suite or room becomes ill and their suitemates wish to clean.

If you do become ill and need assistance contacting your professors, please notify us immediately so we can help with this. Although we encourage all of our students to maintain contact on their own as well, we understand that sometimes they do need assistance, and we are happy to provide it. Students will be responsible for following up with their instructors to make up any work they have missed.
