Parking and Bicycles
Parking
If you own, operate, or have possession of a motor vehicle in the University community, you must register the vehicle with Parking Operations. There is a parking lot as well as a parking structure adjacent to Oak Street Residence Hall where students may park after obtaining a permit for a nominal fee. All service entrances to the complexes are for emergency vehicles, not for parking. Oak Place Apartments residents may purchase a parking permit for the attached garage through Parking Operations that also serves as a student permit in other lots on campus. Parking is not included in housing rates.
Bicycles
If you want to bring your bicycle to UMKC, there are several options for storage. There are racks located outside near both halls and Oak Place. Storage of bicycles inside of the buildings is prohibited.
Oak Place Apartments
Residents shall not obstruct or use the driveways, sidewalks, courts, entry passages, stairs, breezeways, courtyards, or halls for any purpose other than ingress and egress. Residents shall not allow bicycles or other such vehicles to obstruct the driveways, sidewalks, courts, entry passages, stairs, breezeways, courtyards, or halls of the community. Residents cannot hang bicycles from the ceiling or wall of the interior of the unit. Bicycle racks are available for bike storage. Bicycles in common areas shall be deemed abandoned by residents and may be disposed of by Residential Life according to applicable law. Residents may be subject to a fine that must be paid prior to the release of the abandoned bicycle. Bicycles may not be ridden in the hallways or breezeways of the buildings. Residents riding bikes in those areas will be subject to fines.
