The 2005 High School Debate Resolution

Resolved:

“The United States federal government should substantially decrease its authority either to detain without charge or to search without probable cause.”   

This model debate demonstration was presented by high school students who participated in UMKC's 2005 Summer Debate Institute sponsored by the UMKC Debate program. 

The debate moderator, Dr. Linda Collier, is Director of Debate and Associate Professor of Communication Studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.  Dr. Collier also serves as the Communication Studies Coordinator for the High School/College Program at UMKC.

The award-winning UMKC Debate program is the only university debate program in the past six years to rank in the national top ten each year.  The UMKC team won the 1994 CEDA National Championship Tournament.
