Liberty HS to Represent Kansas City at
National Science Bowl
On Saturday, January 28, 2007, the Regional Science Bowl Championships
were held on the Rockhurst University campus. On the Rockhurst campus,
87 high school science teams from Kansas and Missouri competed for the
honor of representing the region at the National Science Bowl later this
year.
Teams of three to five students answered as many questions as they could
in five 16-minute rounds. Liberty High School’s A Team bested Oak Park
High School in the semifinals, and went on to defeat the Mill Valley
High School A Team (from the De Soto School District) for the regional
championship. Both teams will represent the Kansas City region at the
National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C., in April.
The national competition is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy.
The Kansas City event was co-sponsored by Honeywell Inc. and Rockhurst
University and covered biology, chemistry, earth science, physics and
math.
