International Baccalaureate (IB) Courses:
Advanced courses, affiliated with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program, that are taught in high schools to eligible high school students who may receive high school and college credit. Provided the student successfully passes the IB exam and completes the diploma program, college credit is received but no college-level letter grade is awarded. IB courses are credit by exam courses.
The courses are taught on the high school campus by high school teachers approved by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). IBO is an educational foundation. The high school teacher is not required to have a master’s degree but attend the IB professional development workshops and conferences.
The college a student attends after high school graduation would determine if the IB course would transfer to their institution. Course transferability is not guaranteed. The high school counselor would be able to determine which if any of the high school’s advance courses are considered IB courses.
