ELIGIBILITY

  1. Students MUST have permission from a parent or legal guardian to take dual-credit classes.  This permission should be presented to their instructor prior to registration.

  2. Students in the HSCP must have a minimum overall H.S. grade point average of 3.0 (on 4.0 system).

  3. Students must rank in the upper one-third of their class.

  4. Students enrolling in HSCP classes must have the recommendation of the H.S. principal who may designate appropriate instructors in subject areas and H.S. counselors to make recommendations in his/her place.

  5. Students must have completed all prerequisites for the course and any other requirements as may be needed for the same course for on-campus students.

  6. If the H.S. administers a competency assessment in an area related to the dual credit course, H.S. students recommended for dual credit courses must demonstrate proficiency or above on the MAP or other qualifying exams.  The students' scores are verified by the H.S. principal or his/her designee.

  7. Freshmen and sophomores are generally not eligible to enroll for college level work in HSCP courses; however, some exceptions are made upon the recommendation of the H.S. and approval by UMKC, (for example, for advanced students in foreign languages). These students must meet all criteria mandated for junior and senior students and must score at the 90th percentile or above on the ACT or SAT in the subject area.

  8. Students earning college credit in a course must have satisfied state graduation requirements in subject area.  (In schools where state mandated subjects are taken in grades 9-10, junior and senior students may enroll for both college and H.S. elective credit.  In schools not offering state mandated courses in grades 9-10 junior and senior students will received credit simultaneously for both college work and H.S. graduation requirements).

INELIGIBILITY

  1. A student may be rendered ineligible to register for new course enrollments because of unpaid fees from a previous semester.  Payment to the University of Missouri-Kansas City Cashier’s Office clears the administrative hold on a student account and permits enrollment to proceed.

  2. It is the joint responsibility of students and their parents to promptly contact the H.S./College Program Office as soon as unpaid balances have been cleared so enrollments that are on hold can be resubmitted to the campus Records and Registration office.
