Congratulations to the Liberty High School "A" Team who won
the 2006 Regional Science Knowledge Bowl at Rockhurst University. By
winning this competition, they qualified for the National Science Bowl
competition in Washington DC. The 2006 national event, held April 27
- May 1, 2006, takes place at the National 4-H Center located just outside
of Washington, D.C.. Pictured in the photo from left to right:
Rosemary Camp (coach); Ammon Sarver, John Ahlfield, Stephanie Hull, Ryan
Stander, Shane Daniel, Mary Coogan (coach). Regional winners are invited by the US Department of Energy to attend the national event. In 2006, 68 teams will receive an all-expense paid trip to compete for the national title. In addition to the academic competition, students will be given the opportunity to build and race a model fuel cell car and attend presentations by well-known scientists on current topics in math and the sciences.
These regional and national events encourage student involvement in math and science activities, improve awareness of career options in science and technology, and provide an avenue of enrichment and reward for academic science achievement. This is the second year in a row that Liberty High School students have captured top district honors.
