Transferability of Credits
-
The University of Missouri system has issued a
policy statement on the Transferability of Dual Credit Courses. The Kansas City
campus of the University of Missouri system is in full compliance with this
policy statement:
|
UM Policy Concerning the Transferability of Dual
Credit Courses
"The University
of Missouri assures the transfer of five courses taken as dual credit in high
school delivered by institutions that are listed by the Coordinating Board for
Higher Education (CBHE) as being in compliance with the dual credit policy.
Dual credit courses are defined as courses taken for both college and high
school credit that were delivered in a high school by a high school teacher.
The transferability of dual credit courses greater than five will be evaluated
on a course-by-course basis. There will be no limit on the number of courses
that are accepted in transfer. This is consistent with the policy of the
CBHE, stated in the Credit Transfer Guidelines for Student Transfer and
Articulation Among Missouri Colleges and Universities, for students who
request to transfer credit without completing a two-year degree or being
certified as completing a general education curriculum".

The
following comments describe the process by which the UM system policy is
implemented on the Kansas City campus, but does not constitute a separate
policy:
Dual
credit courses are evaluated on the same basis as on-campus courses for the
purposes of transfer. Standards of evaluation are uniform among all
institutions from which dual-credit work is transferred, including those from
UMKC.
Dual credit courses
earned by students with AA degrees do not obviate divergence from accepted
articulation agreements already in
place with community colleges.
UMKC does not impose
automatic limitations on other kinds of dual credit experience, including credit
being considered for transfer earned from
advanced placement exams.
Once accepted,
transfer credit for dual enrollment classes appears on official UMKC transcripts
and becomes part of each student's record. |
