Pending budgetary approval, the Department of Psychology is recruiting an
assistant or associate professor position (tenure eligible) in Social
Psychology or Social Neuroscience to begin in Fall 2008.
Social
Psychology
candidates whose
research focus is in social problems or health psychology (both broadly
defined) are especially encouraged to apply. For example, we welcome
applicants whose interests complement current departmental strengths in HIV
prevention, obesity, prejudice, health disparities, and interpersonal
aggression. Candidates with applied programs of research would be especially
appropriate for the position.
Social
Neuroscience
candidates'
areas of interest should be on the brain bases of social behavior, broadly
defined. We especially welcome applicants whose expertise complements
departmental interests in health, affect, perception, and neuropsychology.
In addition to the psychophysiology resources available in the department,
functional neuroimaging facilities are available at the nearby
Hoglund Brain Imaging Center. The
Department of Psychology has an APA-accredited
doctoral program in Clinical Psychology (with a health psychology emphasis)
and participates in the UMKC Interdisciplinary Ph.D. program. UMKC is an

Qualifications: Need general, child, social, personality,
abnormal, sexuality, physiological, and psychological testing. Ph.D. and minimum of 2 years teaching experience preferred. Special training in
areas of psychology depend upon need of the department.

faculty in teaching responsibilities; preparation of instructional

Qualifications: Graduate student in psychology in good standing;
previous teaching experience helpful, but not absolutely necessary; very
good academic record. Special skills and background in areas of
psychology, i.e., experimental, statistics, psychological testing, in
some instances required.
