The School of Pharmacy offers an entry-level Doctor of Pharmacy, a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences and an Inter-disciplinary PhD program. 

The Pharm.D. program is delivered by faculty at the Kansas City campus and at the satellite campus in Columbia, Missouri. The entering class size is 118 – 90 students at the Kansas City campus and 28 students at the Columbia campus. The Division of Pharmacy Practice faculty represents a broad array of disciplines and is entering a growth phase to support the increased class size. Position Title:  Assistant or Associate Professor (Position #K41093)

Position Title:  Coventry Health Care Managed Care Pharmacy Resident (Position #34649)

Position Description:  The goals and objectives for the Coventry Health Care Managed Care Residency will remain consistent with those outlined by the ASHP/AMCP Accreditation Standard and Learning Objectives for Residency Training in Managed Care Pharmacy Practice.  These goals and objectives will be completed throughout the year at Coventry Health Care.

 

            Program Goals

·         Prepare the resident to assume managerial, clinical or other significant responsibilities within a managed care organization (MCO) or pharmacy benefit manager (PBM).

·         Provide the resident with exposure to, and preparation in, all aspects of pharmacy in a managed care setting: management, clinical, operational and administrative.

·         Provide a mechanism whereby the resident contributes to the development or innovation of pharmacy program within the organization.

 

   Learning Objectives

 

·         The resident shall be required to complete all the managed care core competencies related to the development, implementation, maintenance, operation and assessment of health plan’s pharmacy practice.

·         The resident shall be required to complete a pharmacoeconomic/outcomes research project to be presented at a national meeting and suitable for publication in a professional journal.

·         The resident shall be required to participate in a direct patient care rotation.  The clinical component of  this Managed Care Residency should include but not be limited to ambulatory care, ambulatory dispensing, acute care, long term care or home care.

Position Title:  Clinical Resident (Position #35969)

Position Description:  Pharmacy Practice Residency in Public Health:  The Pharmacy Practice Residency will accelerate the resident’s growth beyond entry-level professional competence in patient-centered care and in pharmacy operational services.   The resident will provide community outreach for the betterment of the Kansas City community through the provision of pharmaceutical care services to at-risk, resource poor, and/or disparate populations within Kansas City at the Kansas City Free Medical Clinic.  Additionally, the patient will develop a clinical practice utilizing multi-disciplinary care at the UMKC Student Wellness Center.  Program is customized based on your career goals, featuring:  academia (lecturing, precepting), clinical practice (MTM, DSM), public health, and research (longitudinal project).

Position Title:  Clinical Assistant, Associate or Professor (Position #35849)

Position Description:  One full time, non-tenure track position in Drug Information (DI) at the Clinical Assistant/Associate/ Professor level. The position is based at the UMKC School of Pharmacy Satellite Campus in Columbia, Missouri. The UMKC School of Pharmacy Satellite Campus is located on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus.  The candidate will serve as the Director of Drug Information Services for the Pharmacy Program’s satellite campus in Columbia, Missouri.  In addition, the candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with existing DI faculty in teaching and research based activities including evidence based medicine and an innovative DI experiential rotation. Targeted services include development of a DI service, responding to DI requests, formulary management, non-traditional DI services, and more. Candidates must be eligible to obtain a Missouri pharmacy license. Representative duties: teaching pharmacy students in a progressive curriculum, generating/maintaining contracts related to formulary management, non-traditional DI services and generation of scholarly work.

Qualifications:  Doctor of Pharmacy with DI residency or equivalent experience required. Excellent literature retrieval/evaluation, scientific writing, communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills preferred.
