| Policy for Media Conversions |
|
Instructional Technologies staff members convert audio/visual material
from MiniDV tapes, S-VHS tapes, VHS tapes, CDs, and limited other formats
into either a Windows Media (default) or Real Media file. The file is then
stored on the appropriate media server and may only be accessed from that
server. The presentation (file) is streamed into a Blackboard
course site. The files will not be placed on other external media such as a DVD.
Each presentation may be no longer than 2 hours in length. Longer presentations
will be cut into shorter sessions. An opening and trailing title slide will be
placed within each presentation. Other editing of the presentation is severely
limited.
The Windows or Real Media file will be created using the following settings:
Video: 320 x 240
Audio: 32 KHz
Default Profile: Video for Broadband NTSC (384 Kbps)
To request the conversion of a tape or CD, complete the form at
http://www.umkc.edu/is/its/forms/digitization.asp.
Instructional Technologies staff members need a minimum of 5 working days notice to
fulfill a media conversion request. Please contact us at either
its@umkc.edu or call (816) 235-6700 if you
have any additional questions or concerns.
