There are five Voice tools available for your use within Blackboard.
What is Voice Board? Wimba Voice board is a threaded message board in which users click on message titles to hear messages and speak into a microphone to post messages. The Wimba Voice Boards provide an outstanding user experience and have exceptional audio quality. Students and Instructors may use it to "talk" or send oral messages to each other without restrictions of time or place all within Blackboard. Examples of use could be for listening and speaking exercises in a Language course or for ongoing discussions and debates in any subject. Back to Index What is Voice E-Mail? Students and instructors can send vocal email messages and recipients reply by sending their own text or voice email response. Voice emails are conducive for role-playing activities and question and answer sessions. To ensure privacy, instructors have control of the distribution of every email. Back to Index What is Voice Authoring? Easily record and post voice messages in Blackboard. Verbally explain complex material, post assignments, or simply highlight important ideas that will be discussed in upcoming lessons. Use to post Announcements of an upcoming Field Trip or Test. Go to Course Content. Click the dropdown menu at the top right. Click Voice Authoring and then Go. Record your message and give it a title. Click Submit. Back to Index What is Voice Presentation? Voice Presentation lets instructors create interactive lectures with web pages along with audio and text messages. Post foreign language questions asking about the content of a website and have students respond by attaching comments to the Voice Presentation slide or post any web-ready multimedia content like Flash or video to a server and annotate it with your voice.
What is Wimba PodCaster? With the Wimba Podcaster tool, faculty can easily create podcasts within Blackboard. Upload audio from digitally recorded lectures or create your own podcast posts by recording directly. Create fun exercises for students by opening up the Podcaster to allow them to post their own new vocal messages. Everyone in class can easily subscribe with one click on the Podcaster interface.
