Prestigious Fellowships

Center for International Academic Programs (CIAP) and the Liaison for Prestigious Fellowships and Awards work to prepare UMKC students to compete for nationally competitive, merit-based scholarships and fellowships.  CIAP selects the UMKC nominees and assists candidates with the application process.  All students interested in applying for a prestigious award should contact Dr. Linna Place, 816.235.6230 or email placel@umkc.edu.

Most prestigious awards are open to sophomores, juniors and/or seniors; however, CIAP also assists academically outstanding graduate students in their first semester of study.  It is never too early to start preparing yourself to be a good candidate for one or more of these prestigious awards.

UMKC students have won funding for study and research in various countries around the world.  Perhaps the greatest benefits, however, come from the application process itself.  Read a speech by applicant Rachel Lowes given to a group of students and faculty, including the Chancellor, about how the act of applying can be just as valuable as the award itself.
