Bridging Scholarship for Study Abroad in Japan
- Bridging Scholarships defray travel and living expenses related to study abroad programs in Japan.
- Stipends of $2,500 to $4,000 are provided for semester and academic year study.
- Undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible to apply.
- Japanese language study is not a prerequisite.

DAAD - Study in Germany
- The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers awards to highly qualified students of all levels for study abroad, university language or summer courses, senior thesis research, and/or internships in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Dept. of Homeland Security Undergrad. Scholarships and Grad. Fellowships
- Areas of study for these programs include: physical, biological, social, and behavioral sciences, engineering, mathematics, and computer science.

Freeman-ASIA
- Undergraduate study in East or Southeast Asia: Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam
- Graduating seniors not eligible to apply.
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident at time of application
- Must currently receive financial aid, OR have verifiable need for financial assistance to study abroad
- Priority given to students with no previous experience in chosen country/countries of study

Benjamin A. Gilman
- MUST be receiving a Pell Grant at time of application
- U.S. citizen
- Undergraduate, good academic standing

- Not applicable for summer study; must study in a sponsored program; must receive UMKC credit for program
- Value up to $5,000
Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship
- For sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue a career in the natural sciences, mathematics, or engineering.
- Must be a United States citizen, a resident alien, or, in the case of nominees from American Samoa or the Commonwealth of the Mariana Islands, a United States national.
- Must have a college grade-point average of at least "B" (or the equivalent) and be in the upper fourth of his or her class.
- Applicants must be nominated by the Campus Goldwater Committee.

Heart of America Japan-America Society Scholarship
- This award is designed to promote social, cultural and educational exchange between Japan and the United States.
- One award, approximately $1,000 - exact amount determined annually.
- U.S. Citizen or Japanese Student studying at UMKC.
- Currently full time and completed at least one year in academic program.
- Demonstrated financial need.
- Monies available fall semester.
- Application available at CIAP.
Jack Kent Cooke-Undergraduate Scholarship
- Presently attending or have graduated since May 2001 from a fully licensed and accredited community college or two-year institution the U.S. - If presently attending, must have sophomore standing by December 2005.
- Must be transferring to an accredited four-year college or university to begin studies in Fall 2006.
- Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or better.
- Must demonstrate economic need.
- Must be nominated by the UMKC Jack Kent Cooke Foundation faculty representative; cannot apply individually.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration - Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship Program
- U.S. citizenship.
- Full-time junior academic status in the upcoming Fall of the application year at an accredited college or university within the United States or U.S. territories.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale) in all completed undergraduate courses and major field of study.
- Majoring in a discipline area related to oceanic and atmospheric science, research, technology, and education, and supportive of the purposes of NOAA’s programs and mission, e.g., biological, life, and agricultural sciences; physical sciences; mathematics; engineering; computer and information sciences; social and behavioral sciences; and teacher education.
- Up to $8,000 of academic assistance per school year for full-time study during the junior and senior years.
- A required, 10-week, paid ($650/week) internship during the summer between the junior and senior years at NOAA or a NOAA approved facility.

NSEP-Boren Undergraduate
- Freshmen through Seniors, U.S. citizens
- Semester, academic year, or summer
- NO FUNDING for study in Western Europe, Australia, Canada, New Zealand
- Study must include language as well as student's field of study
- All applicants are interviewed by a campus committee
- Campus deadline: early January; tenable following September

Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship Program
- Sponsored by the US Department of State, Thomas R. Pickering Fellowships are intended to prepare college students for careers in the Foreign Service.
- Fellowships fund up to two years of college and a year of graduate school, including tuition, room, board, books and fees.
- Fellows must commit to pursuing a graduate degree in international studies at an approved institution.
- Second-year college students who are US citizens with minimum grade point averages of 3.2 are eligible to apply.
- Fourth-year students may be interested in the Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship also sponsored by the Department of State.

Leonard M. Rieser Fellowships
- The Fellowship will annually provide one-time awards of $2,500-$5,000 to between three and five undergraduate students seeking to explore the connections between science, technology, global security, and public policy (science students are especially encouraged to apply).
- It will be presented to students whose academic interests, extra-curricular activities, and career aspirations demonstrate an interest in the role of scientists in formulating public policy and in addressing global security policy challenges.

Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships
- Must apply through a Rotary Club (International students may apply through Rotary Club in their own country and must go to a country having Rotary clubs).
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Must NOT have a family member who belongs to Rotary
- Full-time; good academic standing
- Undergraduates must have finished sophomore year by the time award is tenable; graduates may be any level
- No restrictions, age or academic unit
- Study must take place in a country where Rotary has clubs. Must relate with the area Rotary Club while abroad, and see the sending club upon return.
- Tenable September of the next year: 18 months after application process begins
- DEADLINES: set by individual clubs, dates vary. Kansas City clubs usually have deadlines in March.
Morris K. Udall Scholarship in Environmental Policy
- Each year, the Foundation awards 80 undergraduate scholarships of up to $5,000 to sophomore or juniors in fields related to the environment, or to a Native American or Alaska Natives working in fields related to health care or tribal policy.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident alien, or, in the case of nominees from American Samoa, a U.S. national.
- Must have at least a "B" grade point average
- Applicant must be nominated for a Morris K. Udall Scholarship by their college's Udall faculty representative.
