Henry J. Talge Memorial Scholarship
2008


The single award of $5,000 comes from the Harry S. Truman Good Neighbor Foundation to honor President Truman and to perpetuate his support of the international exchange student movement.  This award is designated for students intending to study abroad for a semester or more.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Entering their senior or first year of graduate study

  • Permanent resident in one of the following counties:

  • Jackson

  • Platte

  • Clay

  •  Johnson

  • Wyandotte 

  • Full-time student with a minimum cumulative GPA of  3.5

  • Studying some aspect of international affairs

  • Intending to receive a degree in international affairs or a related degree

  • Intending to pursue an international career.

  • Awardee will be expected to attend the Foundation’s birthday luncheon in honor of President Truman, to be held on May 8th, 2008 when the winner will be recognized and a certificate presented. 

  • The award will be deposited into the student’s UMKC account.

PROCEDURES

  • Completed application, brief bio, essay, transcript and reference information must be turned in The Harry S. Truman Good Neighbor Award Foundation on or before the deadline. Please also return a copy of the application to the International Academic Programs office listed below.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.
