 The IFSA Foundation*
Study Abroad Scholarship

*The Institute for Study Abroad (IFSA) Foundation is a non-profit organization established to extend study abroad opportunities to underrepresented groups, fund study abroad programs to underdeveloped regions, and to support the development of innovative projects to broaden the scope of undergraduate study abroad experiences.  

The IFSA Study Abroad Scholarship has been created to encourage members of groups that are underrepresented in overseas programs to study abroad for a semester or an academic year (except summer). We will be awarding ten $2,500 scholarships per academic year. All UMKC Students planning on studying abroad can apply, but preference will be give to students who are:

a) going on an approved semester or academic year study abroad program (summer and short term programs not applicable; and

b) members of "underrepresented" study abroad student populations including ...

Asian / Pacific Islander
American Indian / Alaskan Native
Black / Non-Hispanic
Hispanic / Latino
Receiving a Pell Grant
Mentally or Physically Disabled
25 Years or Older
LGBT
Business and Public Administration Major
Education Major
Engineering or Computer Science Major
Social Work Major
Pre-Medicine or a Student in the School of Medicine
Pre-Nursing or a Student in the School of Nursing
Physical or Biological Sciences Major
