Mandatory Pre-Departure Meeting for Study Abroad Programs

Pre-Departure Orientation for Fall '13 or Academic Year Programs: Friday, April 5, 9am-12pm, Student Success Center Room 203

According to the UM System, a pre-departure orientation is mandatory to receive academic credit.

Also please note: In accordance with the UM System Guidelines, students may not participate in study abroad programs in countries with a current U.S. Department of State Travel Warning.

- If you have NOT attended a mandatory pre-departure orientation, please email International Academic Programs as soon as possible.

Important documents that must be turned in before departure (or brought to pre-departure meeting):


• Emergency Contact Information (completed and signed - may be scanned and emailed or turned in to IAP)

• Assumption of Risk and Release (completed and signed - may be scanned and emailed or turned in to IAP)

• Health Information Form for Faculty-Led Program OR Health Information Form for Semester Programs (completed and signed - may be scanned and emailed or turned in to IAP)

•  Copy of, or scanned and emailed proof of enrollment in mandatory HTH Participant Health Insurance (specific directions on link)

• Copy of, or scanned and emailed copy of passport (and visa, if applicable)

• Contact information while abroad (if you know now) - otherwise email it upon arrival to host destination

• Pre-Departure Handbook

• Financial Aid and Scholarships

• Health Insurance for Study Abroad

• Additional helpful links

• Malpractice Waiver for Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical and Dental students and staff  (signed - you may scan and email or turn in to IAP)
