If you are planning on connecting to UMKC resources from home, there are
a few things you will need:
- Accessing Shared Drives From Home - Using
the UMKC VPN connection it is possible to access shared drives from home.

Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack - To help ensure that
you can exchange documents between Microsoft Office releases (including Office
2007), Microsoft has developed a Compatibility Pack for the Office Word, Office
Excel, and Office PowerPoint 2007 File Formats. This pack works on Office 2000,
Office XP, and Office 2003!

Microsoft Remote Desktop - If you are UMKC faculty or staff and you
would like to connect to your office computer from home you can do so with
Microsoft's Remote Desktop (assuming your office computer is running Windows
XP).

Personal Computer Purchases - UMKC faculty and staff can take advantage of
additional savings on personal computer purchases. Both Dell and Apple offer
attractive discounts to UMKC faculty and staff. Note: UMKC logon
is required to access this website.

RooTools
- RooTools is a collection of software and instruction sets designed to
assist UMKC students, faculty and staff in connecting to UMKC resources,
communicating with each other and protecting their personal computers. The
student version comes with free virus protection!
- UMKC VPN - The VPN Local Client provides a
secure connection to UMKC network resources for computers running Windows
2000 or Windows XP.

Daylight Savings Time - Make sure your Windows computer is updated to
reflect the new DST dates for 2007.
