Operations Support Office The Operational Support Office (OSO) provides facilities and staff to meet optical scanning and printing needs for the UMKC campus.
Scanning services are provided for UMKC faculty and staff for purposes such as the scoring of multiple-choice "bubble-sheet" tests, grade reporting, course evaluation processing, and survey/questionnaire data processing. Bubble-sheets for UMKC course examinations can be purchased from the Call Center (Computer Help Desk) in packages of 500. Bubble-sheets may be dropped off for processing at any time during the normal office hours; no appointment is necessary.
Our two high speed InfoPrint laser printers print at a rate of 40 pages/minute and our IBM 6400 impact printer prints as fast as 1,000 lines/minute. These three printers are attached to the IBM mainframe systems in Columbia (UMMVSB.MISSOURI.EDU), and their use is, generally, restricted to large administrative print jobs. However, the impact and laser printers can print via a local area network connection. If you need the ability to print directly to the OSO's printers, contact Jim Hisle to arrange this access. Please note that LAN users will be held strictly responsible for scheduling their printing times with the OSO staff prior to submitting print jobs, in order not to interfere with the normally scheduled administrative printing, which has first claim on the use of the printers' time.
