These accounts must be used in compliance with the UMKC Computer Usage Guidelines and with the particular guidelines that apply to the type of web page for which you are applying. The account(s) becomes deactivated when your affiliation with the University ends  unless you transfer the administrative responsibilities to another person in your department or organization.

Your account will be established and you will be notified by email of its URL.  Web sites can be edited via FTP using your favorite web editing software, or directly with Microsoft FrontPage.  Please note that Information Services cannot provide assistance with web design or editing.

The following guidelines apply to University Department web pages only:

  1. All pages must be signed with an email address or alias of an individual who is responsible for the content of the pages. See the electronic signature at the bottom of this page for an example.
  2. The UMKC logo and UM seal may not be used.  Although the practice is discouraged, units may use their own logos as described in http://www.umkc.edu/webguide.  Keep in mind that simply having a pointer from the main UMKC web site to your site does not constitute approval or sanction of your content by UMKC or the Board of Curators of the University of Missouri System and does not authorize your use of the logo and seal.  Appeals of this exclusion should be made through the office of University Communications.
  3. Departments and individuals may not represent themselves as speaking for UMKC or the Curators of the University of Missouri System.
  4. Academic information (degree descriptions, requirements and emphasis areas as well as course descriptions) are already provided by University Communications and may not be reproduced by departments or academic units. This information is legally binding on the University and can only be distributed once it has been approved by all the necessary academic and administrative bodies including Academic Affairs, the School of Graduate Studies, University Communications and others as required.
