The workstations in IS-managed labs have three types of software loaded, general software, specialized software, and accessibility software.
General software includes the MS Office suite and other software that all UMKC students may find useful, regardless of their major. IS provides Student Assistants to help you use the general software loaded on lab machines.
Specialized software is class-specific software that only students in certain degree tracks will need. Please see your professor for assistance using class-specific software. This software varies depending on which lab you are using.
Accessibility software is used to enhance navigation for people with disabilities and is installed on specific workstations within the IS labs.
It is installed on the following workstations:

- Miller Nichols Library 2nd Floor Lab #35
- Health Sciences Building Lab #03
- Royall Hall 303 Lab #17 and #38
- School of Education Lab #19
- Student Union 210 Lab #01
IS maintains a consistent, stable computing environment in all of its labs. Ensuring this level of quality means limiting the available software for the most part to those applications faculty request to support their teaching initiatives. New software is added three times a year, at the start of each semester. Software submissions are subject to review for proper licensing and compatibility with the existing software set. Bloch School faculty should check with the IT Liaison in the Dean's office before sending software requests.
The deadline for software requests is three weeks prior to the first day of class for each regular semester.

Note that General Use labs are open to all university students; however, Departmental labs are only open to students taking classes within that department.
