Your phone will need an email client capable of connecting to IMAP servers. The quick settings table below contains the settings that most phones require. More details concerning individual phone operating systems can be found below.

If they do not work, take the server information found in the Quick Settings at
the top of this page and contact your cell phone service provider for additional
support.
Android 2.1:
- Tap the gray Applications button.
- Tap Email
- Type in your full email address in the email address box (yourSSO@mail.umkc.edu, where yourSSO is your UMKC SSO username)
- Type your Outlook Live email password in the password box
- Tap Next
- Choose Exchange
- In the Domain\Username box type in your Windows Live ID (yourSSO@mail.umkc.edu, where yourSSO is your UMKC SSO )
- Under server type in m.outlook.com
- Check the box to Use secure connection (SSL)
- Check the box to Accept all SSL certificates
- Tap Next
- Check Send email from this account by default
- Tap Next
- Type in a name for the account
- Type in your name
- Tap Done
Android 2.2:
- Open All Apps
- Tap Settings
- Choose Accounts & Sync
- Tap Add Account at the bottom right
- Tap Exchange ActiveSync
- Enter your full email address in the email address field (yourSSO@mail.umkc.edu, where yourSSO is your UMKC SSO username)
- Enter your Outlook Live email password in the password field
- Tap Manual Setup
- Under Server Address, clear out the mail.umkc.edu entry and enter m.outlook.com for the server address
- Make sure Use SSL connection checkbox is checked
- Tap Next
- Choose which items you want to synchronize and tap Next
Android 4.0:
- Tap mail from your app tray
- Enter your full email address (yourSSO@mail.umkc.edu)
- Enter your SSO Password
- Tap Manual setup
- Tap Exchange
- Enter yourSSO@mail.umkc.edu in the domain\username field
- Enter your server name. (see quick steps above to find server name)
- Click Next
- Click OK
- Click Next
- Choose which items you would like to synchronize and tap Next
- Tap Activate
- Enter a nickname for this account if desired (e.g. UMKC)
- Tap Next
Detailed Instructions for iOS (iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch)

iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch using ActiveSync:
- Tap Settings on the Home screen
- Tap Mail, Contacts and Calendars
- Tap Add Account...
- Tap Microsoft Exchange
- In the Email box, enter your Windows Live ID (yourSSO@mail.umkc.edu, where yourSSO is your UMKC SSO username)
- In the User Name box, enter your Windows Live ID (yourSSO@mail.umkc.edu, where yourSSO is your UMKC SSO username)
- In the Password box, enter your Outlook Live email password
- If you want, you can enter a different descriptive name for your account in the Description box
- Tap Next
- You may see one or more certificate warnings pop up – if so, tap Accept
- For iPads Only: You will need to enter your SMTP server (see Quick Settings above for instructions on finding your server)
- Tap Next
- Choose what you would like to sync
- Tap Done
Detailed Instructions for Blackberry
Note: These instructions are provided as guidance.
If they do not work, take the server information found in the Quick Settings at
the top of this page and contact your cell phone service provider for additional
support.
Blackberry:
- From the Blackberry home screen, click Blackberry Setup.
- Click Set up Internet Email.
- Click Add An Email Account.
- Type your email address (yourSSO@mail.umkc.edu, where yourSSO is your UMKC SSO username) and password (type your password incorrectly so the device will not auto-configure), then click Next.
- Click I will provide the settings to add this email account, when auto configuration fails.
- Scroll down and then click Next.
- Select Internet Service Provider Email (POP/IMAP), and then click Next.
- Choose I will provide the settings to add this email account, if asked, and click Next.
- Type in your username as yourSSO@mail.umkc.edu (where yourSSO is your UMKC SSO username)
- Type your Outlook Live email password in the Password field (correctly this time)
- See Quick Settings at the top of this page to retrieve your IMAP and SMTP server settings
- Input your IMAP server information found in step 11
- Click Next
- Input your SMTP server information found in step 11
- Click OK
