IS Streaming Server Policy

This policy covers the following servers:

  • Flash Media Server
  • Windows Media Server

Policy/Considerations for individuals interested in posting content on the streaming server:

Category 1: If you are NOT the copyright owner of the content you are looking to stream AND have the content in the form of a legally obtained FLV (Flash Video) file.

  • You must have the content in the form of a legally obtained FLV file (FLV - Flash Video).If you do not have the file in FLV format, please see Category 2.
  • You must verify that your proposed usage falls under the Teach Act/Fair Use (by reviewing the appropriate form on the Library Copyright Team's website). You must also keep a copy of this checklist on file in your records.
  • You must submit your request using this form.
  • You must submit the IS copyright form, available on the IS Streaming website.
  • You must submit the copyright form and your video to the IS Streaming Server Team (digital files may be submitted via dropbox.umkc.edu AND physical media may be sent via campus mail to attention of the IS Streaming Server Team, Cockefair Hall Room 002)
  • IS will post the video file on the streaming server and make the same available via Blackboard or a similar site with authentication.
  • The maximum length of time that the file can be streamed is one semester.
  • If you intend to use the video in a subsequent semester, you may resubmit your request with the appropriate source files and supporting materials.

 

Category 2: If you are NOT the copyright owner of the content you are looking to stream AND require IS to transcode/convert/copy the video for you (i.e. You do not have the content in the form of a legally obtained FLV (Flash Video) file.)

  • You must provide us with documentation from the copyright owner indicating that we have permission to perform the conversion and post it on a streaming server.
  • You must submit your request using this form.
  • You must submit the IS copyright form, available on the IS Streaming website.
  • You must submit the copyright form and your video to the IS Streaming Server Team (digital files may be submitted via dropbox.umkc.edu AND physical media may be sent via campus mail to attention of the IS Streaming Server Team, Cockefair Hall Room 002)
  • IS will post the video on the streaming server and make the same available via Blackboard or a similar site with authentication.

  • You must submit the IS copyright form, available on the IS Streaming website.
  • You must submit the copyright form and your video to Streaming Server Team (digital files may be submitted via dropbox.umkc.edu AND other media may be sent to IS Streaming Media Team, Cockefair Hall Room 002)
