UMKC uses McAfee's VirusScan for Windows and McAfee's Virex for Macintosh to protect against virus attacks on campus. The information below summarizes the available options for various UMKC affiliates. No matter who you are, virus protection is vital!

	Students

Current students may either download VirusScan for Windows or download Virex for Macintosh at no cost for use on their personal computer.
*Current student status and an Exchange email account logon is required.

Current students may also pick up a copy of the RooTools CD for Windows (which includes VirusScan) at no cost for use on their personal computer. The RooTools CD is available at any IS Lab or at the UMKC Call Center, located at 4825 Troost, Room 102.

	Faculty & Staff

If you are a current UMKC faculty or staff member and would like to receive antivirus software for your university-owned computer, please contact your IT Liaison.

	Additional Resources

DAT files (virus definition updates) should be downloaded regularly to ensure you have the best protection possible. Update instructions are included at McAfee's DAT update site. This link is for the enterprise version of McAfee, which is the version distributed by UMKC. If you want updates for the home version, you must instead go to McAfee's home user Web site.
