Macintosh Support - Entourage Configuration

Entourage Setup

Note: UMKC no longer supports Entourage and these instructions are provided for your information on an as-is basis only.

These instructions relate to both Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac and Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac

Important Note: Before configuring Entourage to access your UMKC mail, you must install the latest updates for Microsoft Office for Mac.  Failure to do so could result in connection issues, lack of functionality, or in some cases, lost email messages.  The easiest way to install updates is to run the Microsoft Autoupdate program that is included in Microsoft Office for Mac.  To do this, simply open any one of the Office for Mac programs, select Help from the Menu bar, and choose Check for Updates.  It is highly recommended that you run the update program repeatedly until there are no more updates available.  You may also manually download and install the necessary updates.  All available updates can be downloaded here.

After you are finished Installing Office for Mac updates, click on the Entourage icon located in the Microsoft Office 2004 or 2008 folder.

1) Once Entourage has started, select Account Settings from the Entourage Menu

2) When the Account Settings pane opens, Click on New.  Check the box that says My account is on an Exchange server, then click Configure account manually

3) When the Edit Account box is displayed, enter the information as it appears below, entering your specific information in the correct fields.

4) Next, select the Advanced Tab, and enter the following information in the indicated fields.

5) When the Account Settings and Advanced pages have been correctly entered, Click OK.  At this point you may be prompted to enter your UMKC password again, with the option of saving your password for future logins.  When that is complete, Entourage should begin downloading messages and folders from your UMKC Exchange account.  This may take several minutes depending on your account.  You are now correctly configured to send and receive mail.

6) (Optional) To view information stored on Public folders, such as shared office calendars or messages, click on Public folders in the Mail list, and navigate to the correct Public Folder Location.

7) (Optional) To add another user as a delegate, or if you are a delegate to view someone else's mail or calendar information, Open Account Settings as described above and enter the user's name in the correct box.  Note: This step must be done after setting up the account and finishing with Step 5)
