Increasing Font Sizes in Internet Explorer and Firefox

If you use a wheel mouse, you can use the wheel to quickly change the font size in Internet Explorer and Firefox. Simply hold down the Ctrl key and move the wheel to increase or decrease the font size. This is much quicker and cooler than using the menu to change font size!

Get to the Desktop Quickly

If you have multiple windows open, getting to the desktop can prove to be a time consuming process. There are two easy ways to get to the desktop quickly. The first option is to simply use the Windows key + M combination. Secondly, you can click the Desktop icon in the Quick Launch toolbar. Either one will instantly minimize all open windows and take you back to the desktop.

Copy and Paste

Copying and pasting text is easy. Just highlight the selected passage and use Ctrl+C to copy, then use Ctrl+V to paste it wherever you like. If you would like to cut the selected text use Ctrl+X.

Scrolling in Internet Explorer and Firefox

There are a number of ways to scroll through a Web page in Internet Explorer and Firefox (Page Down, Page Up, use the mouse, etc.). One of the easiest is to simply press the Spacebar. Pressing the Spacebar scrolls down the page. If you need to scroll up the page hold down the Shift key and press the Spacebar.

Switch Between Open Applications Using Alt+Tab

It's easy to switch between open applications quickly. Simply press Alt+Tab to switch between Windows-based applications. Windows displays a box that identifies the last application that you accessed. If you hold the Alt key down, pressing Tab cycles through all of the applications that are currently running. When you let go of the Alt key, the identified application becomes the active application. Alt+Shift+Tab moves backward through the active applications.

Print Screen and Screen Capture

Want to print/save a copy of your current screenshot? The Print Screen key copies the entire screen to the Clipboard; if you press Alt+Print Screen only the active window is copied to the Clipboard. You can use Paint to print the Clipboard contents. Just open Paint and choose Edit, Paste. This will paste the Clipboard contents.

Lock the Computer

If you need to leave your desk for a while just press the Windows key + L. This locks your workstation so that no one may access it without a password. When you get back to your desk, just press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, type your password.

Access/Navigate the Start Menu with the Keyboard

Pressing the Windows key by itself opens the Start menu (Ctrl+Esc also opens the Start menu). You may then use the arrow keys to navigate through the menu.

Resize Pictures Quickly for E-Mail
Shrink those images so they're e-mail friendly. Right click on a picture (or select a group of pictures) that you would like to send to someone via email. Choose Send To --> Mail Recipient. In the Send Pictures via E-Mail dialog box, click Show more options to display the choices. Choose a size and click OK. The resized (smaller) copies of your pictures are inserted into a new e-mail that is ready for you to send. Don't worry about your original pictures as they are not resized or modified in any way.
