Description

    UMKC uses McAfee's VirusScan for Windows to protect against virus attacks.  

Update

    Updated versions of McAfee VirusScan may be posted at http://www.umkc.edu/is/cs/avd periodically throughout the year.  If you are connected to the Internet, click the link above to check for an updated version.  Note you must be a currently-enrolled UMKC student and supply your valid account logon credentials (i.e., user name and password) to download the new version from this website.   Current students are entitled to download one and only one copy of each major version released.

Installation Instructions

    1. Click on Install McAfee Virus Scan 8.5i.

    2. If a previous version of McAfee VirusScan is found on your system it will be removed by the setup. Watch the progress bar as VirusScan installs. This may take several minutes depending upon the speed of your computer.

Using McAfee VirusScan
    1. Right click on the McAfee VirusScan icon in the tray and click on On-Demand Scan.

    2. Select All Local Drives and check the box next to Include Subfolders and Scan boot sectors in scan options. Click Start to begin a virus scan of your computer.

    3. Watch as McAfee VirusScan searches your computer. Please be patient this will take some time to scan your entire computer.

    4. After your scan has completed select Scan and then Exit.

    5. To close McAfee VirusScan select File and Exit.

Uninstall McAfee VirusScan

    1. Click on Start then Settings then Control Panel.

    2. Next open Add/Remove Programs.

    3. Click on Remove to begin uninstalling VirusScan

    4. Select Yes to remove VirusScan from your computer.

    5. Watch the progress bar as VirusScan uninstalls. This may take several minutes depending upon the speed of your computer.
