- Go to http://mail.umkc.edu.
- Sign in with your Windows Live ID (yourSSO@mail.umkc.edu, where yourSSO is your
UMKC SSO username) and Outlook Live email password.
- The first part of the URL in the browser address bar is your server name.
Example: If, after signing in, the first part of the URL in the browser address bar is
https://pod51000.outlook.com, then pod51000.outlook.com is your server name.

Windows Live Mail
Windows Live Mail is a free email client that is available from Microsoft. Before you follow these instructions,
you must
download and install the application
- Launch Windows Live Mail
- Click Tools
- Click Accounts
- Click Add
- Click e-mail account
- Click Next
- Next to e-mail address, type your full email address (SSO@mail.umkc.edu)
- Next to password, type your Outlook Live email password
- Next to display name, type your name as you would like it to appear to recipients
- Check the box to manually configure server settings for e-mail account
- Click Next
- Use the dropdown menu to change the incoming server type to IMAP
- Next to incoming server, type the name of your IMAP server. (refer to the quick settings
at the top of this page)
- Check the box next to this server requires a secure connection (SSL)
- Next to outgoing server, type the name of your SMTP server. (refer to the quick settings
at the top of this page)
- Check the box next to this server requires a secure connection (SSL)
- Check the box next to outgoing server requires authentication
- Next to logon user name, type your Windows Live ID
- Click Next
- Click Finish
