Wireless Configuration

For detailed instructions on how to connect your device to the UMKCWPA network, choose one of the links below.

In order to provide a more stable and secure network UMKC utilizes SafeConnect, a small tool that helps to ensure your computer is up to date and is free of malicious software. This tool must be installed before full network access can be attained in any UMKC Residence Hall. Instructions for installing the SafeConnect client can be found at the SafeConnect instructions page.

Games and Media

In order to help support a wide array of devices, the UMKC-Media network was created for the purpose of connecting media and gaming devices that do not support modern security methods. The UMKC-Media wireless network is not intended for use with smartphones, laptops, tablets or any device that can connect to a WPA2-Enterprise (WPA2-E) wireless network. If you have a device with one of these Operating Systems, please use the UMKCWPA or eduroam wireless networks

Instructions for configuring your media devices for UMKC-Media can be found at the UMKC-Media enrollment page.

Devices similar to the ones below can be used on the UMKC-Media network

  • Microsoft Xbox
  • Sony Playstation
  • Nintendo Wii U
  • Blu-ray Player's
  • Smart TV's
*Due to a software incompatability, the Nintendo Wii can only connect via a LAN adapter.
