Master in Public Administration

Why UMKC?
I decided to come to UMKC because the school had great scholarship opportunities, a diverse student body and was located in a great area. In the heart of America, and in a metropolitan city where I could experience a good balance between my academics and social life. UMKC has been nothing short of a great experience for me and this is why I decided to also pursue my masters degree at the school.

Stefan Panov
Country or origin: Bulgaria

Program:
Bachelor in Biology

Why UMKC?
I have decided to persue my career goals at UMKC because of its innovative undergraduate research program in biological sciences that allows students direct hands-on experience with faculty members outside the classroom. In addition, by simply attending UMKC, I have had the chance to meet a wide variety of students from different cultural backgrounds that I could not find anywhere else. This, for example, was a great chance and opportunity for me to get to know people from all over the world, experience new traditions and customs, and make future friends and professional contacts with some of them.

Jouliana Sadek
Country or origin: Lebanon

Program:
PhD in Cell Biology & Biophysics

Why UMKC?
UMKC offered me the opportunity to advance my understanding of molecular biology through basic scientific research. The program that I enrolled in is problem-oriented and integrates the broad-based interdisciplinary approach with a traditional academic focus to provide a solid grounding in theories, concepts and methodologies of basic science. Since learning thrives in an environment open to a diversity of ideas, cultural backgrounds, discipline perspectives, UMKC is extremely diverse both academically and culturally and I wanted to be part of that cultural exchange. In addition, Kansas City is a good place to live in as it is dynamic, vibrant, not so crowded, safe and affordable. Plus, people are so warm and welcoming which made my transition easier.

Why UMKC?
UMKC itself is just a perfectly blended institution with great academic programs, vast scholarship opportunities, wonderful social life, extremely well qualified faculty and a beautiful campus. UMKC is also quite diverse, safe, and perhaps one of the nicest cities in the US to study and in general, the school has a great vibe.

Duong Vu
Country or origin: Vietnam

Program:
Bachelor in Business Administration

Why UMKC?
I did not chose UMKC myself. I came here because UMKC was the closest school in the area to my grandpa's house. Unfortunately, my grandpa passed away just right before I came, and so I thought I might not stay in Kansas City for long. I came to the U.S. and to UMKC without knowing what to expect. But UMKC made me feel like home, and all the passionate, hearted people made me feel warm. That was why I decided to stay, and I'm glad that I did. UMKC has always been a sweet home to me, and been given me many great opportunities. One of them was the chance to be an International Student Ambassador. I am enjoying every minute here, and looking forward to the remaining time that I will be at UMKC.
