Three Claim All-league Honors in Men's Tennis

Three members of the UMKC’s men’s tennis team were selected as 2008 all-Summit League honorees.  Sophomore Patrick Smith and freshman Serge Ristivojevic earned first team accolades, while sophomore Dennis Schwarz was named to the second team for the second straight year.

In singles, Smith finished league play with a perfect 4-0 mark.  A native of Munich, Germany, Smith won five of his final seven singles matches played to completion and defeated Martin Boström of Western Illinois, handing Boström his first and only loss of the season and ending Boström’s 14-match winning streak.

Much credit for the Kangaroos third seed at the Summit League Championships went to Ristivojevic, who played at the No. 1 position in singles for most of the season.  The Australia native finished the year winning eight of 10 matches in singles and doubles play combined.

Dennis Schwarz’s 10-3 mark in singles play was a Roo team best.  After claiming his first win on March 13, the Munich, Germany, native reeled off 10 straight victories to close out the season.
