State-of-the-art Oak Street parking facility
A state-of-the-art parking facility will replace the current structure on Oak
Street. The new facility will provide double the parking spaces of the current
structure, including plug-in spaces for electrical cars.
The facility will house the UMKC police station, retail spaces and locker rooms
with showers for bicyclists and commuters. Covered walkways will lead from the
new parking facility towards the Student Union and the
James C. Olson Performing Arts Center. The current Oak
Street parking structure is scheduled to close in mid-May for demolition and the
new facility is projected to open in June of 2012.
