Nationally-known designer presents UMKC artist's lecture on April 18KANSAS CITY, MO. - Designer Tad Carpenter will present an artist's lecture at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 18 at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) College of Arts and Sciences' Department of Art and Art History in Room 106 of the Fine Arts Building's Gallery of Art, 5015 Holmes St., Kansas City, Mo. This event is free and open to the public.
Carpenter teaches graphic design at the University of Kansas, where he also received his Bachelor of Fine Arts. He spends most of his time running his own studio, where he has worked with Chronicle Books; Macy's; Target; Atlantic Records; the Washington, D.C.-based Corcoran Gallery of Art; Simon & Schuster; Family Circle; Dave & Buster's; Hallmark Cards; Kidrobot; Land of Nod; and MTV.
Carpenter has illustrated and designed several children's books, spot illustrations and national campaigns. He has been featured in Communication Arts, Print and Graphis. He also co-runs Vahalla Studios, a silkscreen design shop with friend Dan Padavic. Their clients have ranged from John Mayer, Ray-Ban, Myspace, Zynga and the Sacramento Kings.
