UMKC Architecture and Art lecturer receives Fulbright grant to teach in Cairo
Kansas City, Mo. - Richard Findley, a lecturer in the
University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC)
College of Arts and Sciences' Department of Architecture, Urban Planning + Design (AUP+D) and
Department of Art and Art History, recently received a U.S. Fulbright Scholar grant to lecture and conduct research in Cairo from September of 2011 through June of 2012.
For the teaching component, Findley will teach courses on architectural design, history and theory at Ain Shams University. For the research component, Findley will draw and paint historic structures.
At UMKC, Findley has taught "Meaning in Architecture" in AUP+D and "Foundation Drawing" in the Department of Art and Art History.
"Through his teaching, research and this international honor, Richard Findley builds upon the Department of Architecture, Urban Planning + Design's excellence and collaborations throughout the Kansas City region and beyond," said Joy Swallow, FAIA and AUP+D chair.
Findley received a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska's College of Architecture in 1975 and a master's degree in Architecture from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design in 1978.
