KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management has selected five graduating seniors as Fall 2011 Vice Chancellor Honor Recipients. These scholars are commended for both academic achievement and participation in programs outside the classroom. They are:

Emma Frank - College of Arts and Sciences, chemistry; plans to attend medical school.

Ramanda Hicks - College of Arts and Sciences, communications studies; plans to earn a master's degree in journalism or creative writing.

Anthony McDaniel - College of Arts and Sciences, liberal arts; has been accepted into UMKC's School of Law.

As volunteers, the students were involved with the Kansas City Free Health Clinic, Harvesters, Give Kids a Smile (dentistry program), Big Sisters, the Student Government Association and the Emancipation Station women's shelter. Most held part- or full-time jobs and still earned GPAs of 3.3 to a perfect 4.0.

The Vice Chancellor Honor Recipients program was established in 1975 to recognize seniors who excelled in academic achievement, involvement in university programs and service to the campus and surrounding community.
