UMKC School of Nursing graduation set for May 6

The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Nursing will see 100 students graduate this year — 60 pre-licensure Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN), 17 RN-to-BSN completions, 22 master degrees (Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners), and one Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing.

This year’s commencement, taking place at 10 a.m. May 6 in Theis Park, is significant because it marks a return to a single university-wide ceremony in which all academic units participate. Academic units have the option of following up with their own recognition ceremonies.

The UMKC School of Nursing will hold its recognition ceremony at 1:30 p.m. May 6 at the Paseo Baptist Church, 2501 Paseo Blvd. It is at the recognition ceremony that nursing graduates will cross the stage to receive their diplomas, the BSN students will be pinned, and the doctoral student hooded.

This is the second year for the School of Nursing’s pinning ceremony. It is also the second graduating pre-licensure BSN class for the School of Nursing. Last May, 45 pre-licensure BSN students graduated.

The UMKC School of Nursing offers multiple degree and concentration choices including the pre-licensure BSN, the RN-to-BSN Program, Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (Ph.D.) The school's location and partnerships garner a wide range of clinical experiences, research and specialty opportunities.
