UMKC Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Supports National EntrepreneurshipWeek USA in Kansas City

UMKC’s Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (IEI), Kansas City’s leader in entrepreneurship research, education and collaboration, celebrates entrepreneurial spirit by introducing innovative new degree programs in entrepreneurship at the Bloch School.

Highlights of these programs and services are being showcased during EntrepreneurshipWeek USA (Feb. 24-March 3) at the Henry W. Bloch School of Business and Public Administration and at 4747 Troost in Kansas City, Mo. The events showcase the wealth of education and resources available in Kansas City through IEI’s many programs.

·          SIFE Teams Unite!
Feb. 27, 7-9 p.m.
UMKC Bloch School, 5110 Cherry Street, Kansas City, Mo.

Students in Free Enterprise and IEI host a gathering of SIFE teams from within the Kansas City region.

 

·          4747 Troost - A Community Business Development Center
Feb. 28 7:30 -9:30 a.m.
Open House at 4747 Troost Avenue in Kansas City. Guided tours of IEI’s group of business-building resources, all housed in one University setting.

 

·          An Education in Entrepreneurship 
Feb. 28 3:30-5 p.m.
UMKC Bloch School, 5110 Cherry Street, Kansas City, Mo.
This event highlights the educational opportunities in entrepreneurship offered through IEI, including Boot Camp for undergraduates and graduate students, new undergraduate and graduate curriculum in entrepreneurship, and the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. program.

These IEI events all celebrate the first EntrepreneushipWeek USA, a project sponsored by The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, the New York Times, Starbucks, Inc. magazine and others nationwide to boost the nation’s awareness of the importance of entrepreneurship. The goal is to create ongoing interest from individuals and organizations that can help educate and encourage young people to fulfill their potential as self-starters and entrepreneurs. Official events are being planned in cities across the U.S.  

   The Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the UMKC Henry W. Bloch School of Business and Public Administration is a launching pad for developing new ideas, products, businesses and talent for Kansas City. Through unsurpassed education, world-renowned research and application that puts entrepreneurship in action throughout the Kansas City community, the Institute converges university and community resources to provide a venue where students, researchers and entrepreneurs come to dream, innovate and succeed.
