New Letters Magazine invites nominations for the 2007 Readers Awards

New Letters editor Robert Stewart invites readers to participate in the second annual Readers Awards.

“Tell us your favorite essays, stories and poems from New Letters volume 73 by November 5,” says Stewart, “and we will honor the most popular pieces with a special Readers Award in the next issue of the magazine.”

New Letters readers will find Readers Awards nomination forms enclosed with subscription copies of the latest issue, vol. 73 no. 4, and also linked from the “Editor’s News” box at the New Letters home page: Readers will select favorites from among New Letters volume 73, issues no. 1, 2, 3, and 4 (current issue). Participants in the survey will receive a reduced rate on a subscription or renewal. Stewart and his staff hope readers will take this opportunity to remember their favorites from the past year of great writing in New Letters.

New Letters inaugurated the Readers Awards in 2006 and thus began a new tradition – a relationship between readers and their favorite writers – that is unique among literary magazines. Readers who vote receive a discount on more great writing, and authors whose work is distinguished by the most votes gain recognition of special importance.

Deadline for nominations is Nov. 5, 2007. Results will be announced in the upcoming first issue of volume 74.

New Letters is published quarterly by the University of Missouri-Kansas City and distributed worldwide. It is available by subscription for $22 per year. Call (816) 235-1168, e-mail or visit the New Letters Web site at to order.
