J. R. Benmuvhar, College of Arts and Sciences, named 2008 Student Affairs Honor RecipientOne of 10 students recognized for outstanding academic and service involvementThe University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management has named J. R. Benmuvhar a 2008 Honor Award recipient, one of 10 graduating seniors to be commended for both academic achievements and participation in programs outside the classroom.
The honor award program was established in 1975 to recognize graduating seniors who excelled in academic achievement, involvement in university programs and service to the campus and surrounding community.
Benmuvhar graduates with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Classics. In the fall, he will enter the higher education program at the University of Kansas, interning in the department of student housing.
Previously, Benmuvhar has received the UMKC Chancellor’s Scholarship and is a member of the UMKC Honors Program. His volunteer service includes Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure and the University Academy Tutoring. Benmuvhar’s awards include the 2006 Community Builder of the Year: Department of Residential Life and NASPA Undergraduate Rising Star, Fall 2007.
Benmuvhar and his fellow recipients will be honored at a reception and breakfast from 8 to 9:30 a.m., May 9 in room 106 of the University Center, 5000 Holmes St., Kansas City, MO.
