Phaedra Dowell, College of Arts and Sciences, named 2008 Student Affairs Honor Recipient One of 10 students recognized for outstanding academic and service involvementThe University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management has named Phaedra Dowell a 2008 Honor Award recipient, one of 10 graduating seniors to be commended for both academic achievements and participation in programs outside the classroom.
The honor award program was established in 1975 to recognize graduating seniors who excelled in academic achievement, involvement in university programs and service to the campus and surrounding community.
Dowell will receive a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the College of Arts & Sciences. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of Kansas School of Medicine. In addition to her academic schedule, Dowell is a member of UMKC Pre-Medical Society and was a participant in the Sustainable UMKC competition.
Dowell’s volunteer and service activities include the Children’s Emergency Dental Fund, Humane Society of Greater Kansas City and AmeriCorps Volunteer for Maui Economic Opportunity.
Dowell and her fellow recipients will be honored at a reception and breakfast from 8 to 9:30 a.m., May 9 in room 106 of the University Center, 5000 Holmes St., Kansas City, MO.
