MEDIA ADVISORY Dr. Roy Bhaskar, a philosopher and world scholar speaks at UMKC
Addendum to Press Release: THIS LECTURE HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Social Science Consortium, in conjunction with Kansas City Kansas Community College, will host a public lecture featuring renowned philosopher and world scholar Roy Bhaskar.
Dr. Bhaskar's thought provides the basis for critical realism, a rapidly growing approach to the philosophy of science and social science. Critical realism defends the possibility of rational inquiry against the postmodern challenge to the failed tenets of positivism.
“In recent years, Dr. Bhaskar’s work has led him to explore how the resources of philosophical method and thought can be usefully applied toward the problem of achieving both prosperity and peace among diverse world cultures,” said Doug Bowles, director of the UMKC Social Science Consortium.
Dr. Bhaskar’s lecture is free and open to the public and media. However, RSVPs are requested. For more information or to reserve your seat, contact Doug Bowles at 816-235-1394 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
