Award-winning author Thomas E. Kennedy reads from his new novel
UMKC's New Letters magazine hosts program on April 20Award-winning author Thomas E. Kennedy will read from his new novel, "In the Company of Angels" at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, at Johnson County Library's Central Resource Library, 9875 W. 87th St., Overland Park, Kan. Robert Stewart, editor of New Letters magazine, also will speak at this free event.

Kennedy is a prolific author and frequent contributor to New Letters magazine - UMKC's international magazine of writing and art. The magazine received the National Magazine Award from the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) for Kennedy's essay, "I am Joe's Prostate." Kennedy also has won O. Henry and Pushcart Prizes for his short fiction. He lives in Denmark.
In addition to serving as editor of New Letters magazine, Stewart serves as editor of "New Letters on the Air," a nationally syndicated literary radio program, and BkMk Press at UMKC, where he also teaches writing, magazine nonfiction writing and magazine editing. He has written several books, including "Outside Language: Essays" and "Plumbers". His poem, "Fighting Chuck Berry," was nominated for the Pushcart Prize.
