Milton Bucks

$3, $7 & $9 bills
One of Milton's favorite gags was printing his own currency, backed by "The Left Bank of Paris," in denominations of three, seven and nine dollars. The set pictured above is from a vintage issue.

"Milton's Reserve Note" is engraved across the top of the bill. The banner across his mug reads "Uncle." On either side of his mug, across the center of the bill, is the club's tag line: "A swinging place for swinging people." On the lower left, "Happy Scotsman Hours" are advertised, "9-A.M.--4-P.M." On the lower right is emblazoned his fond boast: "Seats 10,000 people / 69 at a time." Above the address near the bottom appears the admonition: "put some good wax in your ears--Milton's modern sounds."

Similar text appears on the front of a more recent $3 bill, shown below, that was probably issued some time in the mid to late seventies.
