The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) is committed to becoming nationally recognized for its research. UMKC is a core member of the regional life sciences consortium and continues to construct new research laboratories, hire top quality faculty, identify, promote, and establish disease-defined centers of excellence, and enlarge our research infrastructure. The Office of the Vice Provost for Research - Office of Research Services (ORS) is a core element of the university's research infrastructure. Our mission is to support the scientific, scholarly, and creative endeavors of the faculty and staff at UMKC. SERVICES provide access to individualized research data, processes or analyses for Principal Investigators, researchers, scholars, research staff, students, Fiscal Officers, Business Managers and ORS staff upon SSO authentication. Access is security controlled and linked to your function(s) at UMKC. If you require access to specific SERVICES, please contact ORS through the ORS webmaster listed below. Pre-Award Services provides proposal and budget development support services to faculty and staff necessary to identify, develop, and submit external grant and contract applications, and administers internal funding opportunities (UMRB, FRG, Travel Grants). Forms/Facts/Policies provide access to common information that is frequently used in preparation of grants and funding requests but that is also required after funds have been awarded and research projects must comply with conditions and expectations of UMKC and granting agencies such as NIH, NSF, AHA, etcetera. Post-Award Services provides fiscal support necessary to responsibly manage funds awarded, consistent with University policy, requirements of funding sources, and federal regulations and time/effort reporting. Faculty-directed Research Compliance Committees provide information and training for successful preparation for and ethical implementation of research within federal, state, local and institutional regulatory practices including, but not limited to, protection of human and animal subjects, hazardous materials, biosafety and HIPAA. LARC is one of the facilities operated by ORS to support university research.
