Required/Suggested Literature
FOR APPLIED PERCUSSION STUDY
Rational:
This is not an all-inclusive list, but rather a suggestive sampling of material, which may be studied in the percussion studio. Entering first year undergraduate students must purchase and bring the books in “bold” to campus. Do not wait until you come to school to purchase these items. They are not available from the university bookstore. Most of these may be purchased from Steve Weiss Music or your local music stores.
A note to students and parents:
Please download a copy of the list. While this list represents a significant investment, many of these items, if properly maintained, will last a lifetime. If you already own the bolded items, there is no need to purchase new books. This list is a great starting point and should provide students with the literature they need to get started. This list is by no means complete and students should expect to add music throughout their studies at UMKC.
