Program Evaluation
The Board of Curators of the University of Missouri System and the Missouri Department of Higher Education mandate that all academic programs and centers will be evaluated every five years. The Provost has established a standing committee comprised of faculty members representing all academic units to define and implement program evaluation at UMKC. This new program evaluation process will replace all previous processes (e.g. COPE) and should incorporate best practices from the previous processes and from current nationwide initiatives.

The Committee is charged with:The Committee has successfully compiled a new Program Evaluation Policy and Program Review Guidelines for all academic programs, as well as new evaluation guidelines for Centers & Institutes. In addition, new guidelines for review of externally accredited programs have been created. These can be accessed below under Documentation.
- Developing and implementing a campus wide program evaluation process which focuses on continuous academic program quality improvement;
- Review and oversight of the individual academic units’ program evaluation processes;
- Reviewing and following up on all internal and external evaluation activities and reports;
- Incorporating the expectations of the NCA Higher Learning Commission into UMKC's evaluation processes (preparation for the accreditation site visit in 2008-09);
- Provide the Provost and Chancellor with recommendations from the program evaluation process for consideration in developing operating and capital budget requests.
