Math Committee

Charge to the Mathematics Committee The Math Committee is charged with developing a strategic plan for the Department of Mathematics. Instruction in mathematics is crucial to the success of academic programs across campus. The Mathematics Department lost seven faculty to VERIP last year. We have hired two new faculty for '04, but before we proceed further we need a plan as to how current and additional faculty would be most effectively and productively employed. The time is right to chart a course that will assure that the Mathematics Department fulfills its mission to the College and University by providing quality teaching to students in all units of the University. Toward that end, the Math Committee shall identify the mathematics courses required by all academic units in the University.
