UMKC Certifications of Academic Record Information

|
UMKC certifies academic record information from UMKC students' records to third parties for a variety of purposes including loan deferment, insurance coverage and discounts, employment verifications, admission documents to other colleges and universities, and other needs as identified by our students and alumni. Only UMKC information and not information from institutions where a student has previously attended is certified by the UMKC Records Office. The transcript is the only official document used to certify course enrollments, grades and grade point average. However, the Records Office can sometimes certify information on letterhead with the school seal when the party receiving the certification will accept it as official. Fulltime is a popular form of certification and is defined in the UMKC catalog. In general, undergraduates are considered fulltime if they are enrolled in 12 semester credit hours or more and graduate students are fulltime if they are enrolled in 9 semester credit hours or more. Halftime is defined as the fulltime requirement divided by two. In Summer semesters, all definitions are divided by two compared to Fall and Winter / Spring semesters since the term is half as long. Enrolled students are reported to the National Student Clearinghouse automatically four or more times per semester for purposes of student loan deferment. Automatic notifications to the Clearinghouse begin approximately two weeks before the semester starts and conclude with the end of the semester for enrolled (registered and fees paid) students. The Clearinghouse relays information to most lenders in the nation every 30 to 60 days. It is student's responsibility to notify all of their lenders if they change which college or university they attend. Students should notify their lenders within 30 days if they transfer or change their address. For UMKC certification assistance, please contact:
