Beginning with Summer 2007, Class Rosters and Grade Rosters will be available
electronically only via
Pathway. Instructors must pass the
FERPA exam on Blackboard prior to being granted access
to Pathway.
If you have designated a person as the grader for a course,
the instructor must have an appointment in the Human Resources system. With Pathway and security
auditing features the system requires a Single Sign On (SSO) account be
setup through Human Resources and the instructor will be assigned faculty status
and the unique Employee ID number (EMPLID). If the instructor is a volunteer
and will not be getting compensation from the University, and if they will be
asked to assign grades or access other areas of the Pathway Student Information
System or the Blackboard e-learning system, they will still need to get a
faculty appointment and EMPLID.
The Steps for Getting Access to Pathway as an
Instructor:
-
The HR facilitator in your
academic unit must submit a paper application for your HR appointment, and
submit the
signed SSO account request form to the Human Resources office:
http://www.umkc.edu/is/cs/forms/F-S-Acct-Request.pdf.
These forms must be signed by the instructor/faculty member before they can
be submitted.
- The HR office will forward a copy of the SSO form to the Information
Services Call Center for the setup of your SSO account and mailbox.
-
The Call Center will
notify the IT Liaison for your academic unit of the new account and opening password.
The IT Liaison will contact the instructor/faculty member with this
information.
- The instructor may then log on to Blackboard
with their SSO and enroll themself in the FERPA training course.
- Log on to Blackboard
with your SSO
- In the "Organization Catalog" section, click on "Browse
Organization Catalog"
- Enter "FERPA" in the
Search Catalog by Organization Name Contains box
- Click on the "GO" button
- It should pull up the FERPA
Training (Spring 2008) course, click on the "Enroll" button on the far right to enroll yourself in the course.
- At the next screen, click Submit to confirm
- At the next screen, click OK, you will be taken to
the FERPA Training course main page
- Click on the "Assignments"
button in the left-hand menu
- Read through the assignments and take the
practice quizzes.
- You must take the Final Exam
at the bottom of the page and get a score
of 35 out of 50 in order to pass.
- Once you have passed, your score will be
automatically sent to the Registration & Records office and you will receive a
confirmation e-mail when your Pathway access is available.
- When the
instructor has passed the FERPA test the Registrar's office will be notified
to setup the Pathway/PeopleSoft system for access to class information such
as class rosters and grade rolls. The setup process after taking the FERPA test can take
1-2 business days.
You will receive an email confirmation when your Pathway access is
available.
Once a n instructor logs-on to Pathway, they should click on the
"Self-Service" link and then the "Faculty Center" link. All classes for which
the instructor is the official instructor of record will be displayed on this
page.
Checking your Class Roster
Periodically, you should check your Class Roster in Pathway for
inaccuracies.
- Check that everyone who is attending your class is officially
enrolled. If there are students who are attending your class, but
are not officially enrolled they need to either:
- Check to make sure there are not students on the Roster who are
no longer attending. It is important the we know if students
stopped attending class and the specific date they stopped attending for
Title IV Financial Aid regulations.
- If you find students on your roster who have never attended or have
stopped attending, e-mail Diane
Robinson (robinsondi@umkc.edu) in the Registrar’s office and let her
know the last date the student attended your class. She will send a
letter to the student notifying them that they have not officially
withdrawn and giving them the procedures for doing so at this time.
Grading
Grade Rosters are generated near the end of the term so that they reflect the
most accurate enrollment and withdrawal data. Grade Rosters are static and do
not change once they are generated, so if a student enrolls or withdraws after
the grade roster is generated, it will not be reflected on the grade roster.
Grades must be entered in Pathway, marked as "Approved" and "Saved" by noon 3 days after the last scheduled final (not including Sunday). This is
generally the Tuesday after finals week.
- Summer 2008 grades are due by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5
- Fall 2008 grades are due by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December
16
Grades entered and marked as approved will be posted to student records after
the last scheduled final for the term. Typically all grades are available one
week after finals.
